After weak economy and Coronavirus pandemic, Pakistan may face the worst locust attack of the decade.
Officials warned that the next few weeks could be crucial as locust swarm is expected to reach here recent month from African countries. Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority said that the locust problem is likely to peak in next four weeks.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan is on the locust migratory track and it has both spring and summer breeding places.
Pakistan’s minister for National Food Security and Research, thanked the governments of Japan, UK, China and also United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization for supporting Pakistan regarding locust attack.
Various Pakistani institutes and the government is also working to develop bio-pesticides to control locust.
