Will federal employees get a pay raise in 2021?
Yes, the Finance division of the federal government has issued the notification with approval of the federal government for the Grant of Disparity Reduction Allowance.
The government has issued the notification on 03 March 2021 of a 25% increase in the salaries of federal government employees.
Government employees are in confusion after the issuance of notification with the statement “25% of the basic pay scales 2017”. They are confusing it that a 25% increase will be on the running basic of 2017 but it’s totally misunderstanding. The fact is that increase will be granted as 25% of the running basic on March 2021.
It is indeed a great relief in the currently worst inflation scenarios. In the last budgets, a very little amount of wages were increased for government employees, while on the other hand, every daily use items’ prices increased with huge jumps.
Key points of the notification
- This notification is about federal government civil employees only, the provincial government will issue on their own, and the Punjab government has already issued the notification.
- The allowance will be granted to the employees of scale 1-19 only
- Employees who are already availing 100% increase in form of any other ad-hoc allowance will not get this allowance
- The allowance will be frozen, it is not being added to the current basic.
Cabinet Okays 25pc raise for federal employees
The last step was approval from the Cabinet, and luckily cabinet has also approved it.
