Global warming Essay
Global Warming definition/meaning
The gradual change in the temperature of the earth and its atmosphere refers to the concept known as global warming. What happens during this process is that the heat-protective layer which is present outside the earth’s surface is damaged due to excessive pollution, as a result of this, the ultraviolet rays coming from the sun are trapped inside the earth and do no return back. This led to an increase in the temperature of the surface of the earth which nowadays is mentioned as global warming.
Global warming in detail
In order to study the concept of global warming, this essay will be looking at different aspects which are the causes of global warming, and also how global warming is affecting our environment.
Reasons for global warming
The foremost reason for global warming is the accumulation of gases in the atmosphere of the earth. Now the question arises, where do these gases come from? The answer lies in human activity. Due to excessive use of heavy industries, harmful gases such as carbon dioxide along with other pollutants are released into the air. These pollutants are accumulated on the upper layer of the earth and also damages the ozone layer. Now we all are aware of the fact that the ozone layer protects us from the ultraviolet rays coming from the sun. When this layer is damaged due to the presence of gases, the earth is exposed to these rays, thus contributing to global warming.
There are many possible contributing factors to global warming. Some of them are listed below:
- Large plants used for the manufacturing process of different items.
- Excessive use of vehicles that emit harmful smoke.
- Use of fertilizers.

Greenhouse effect and global warming
The greenhouse effect is a notion of keeping the earth’s temperature warmer by trapping some amount of greenhouse gases and sending back the rest to the atmosphere. This effect is very crucial in order to prevent the earth from freezing temperature. Now what is happening is that, due to damage in the protective layers of earth, more and more gases are entering the earth atmosphere and very less amount is reflected back. Global warming has damaged the natural cycle of the greenhouse effect due to which we are experiencing extremely hot temperatures in today’s world.
Gases responsible for global warming
There is a list of gases that are involved in the greenhouse effect and now are contributing to global warming. These are:
- Carbon Dioxide
- Methane
- Nitrous Oxide
- Fluorinated Gases (these are the result of human activities on earth).
Effects of Deforestation on global warming
Deforestation is the cutting down of trees and not replacing them with planting new ones. As we know trees are the major source of oxygen as well as carbon dioxide. When they are cut down, the Carbon dioxide stored in them is released into the atmosphere and is accumulated on the surface of the earth. As a result, global warming is increased.
Natural Disasters caused by global warming
As the temperature of the earth is increasing, it is making the earth more vulnerable to natural disasters such as floods, and hurricanes. The reason behind this is that hot temperatures result in the melting of glaciers due to which sea levels are raised and floods take place. Due to massive deforestation, strong winds are blown and chances for a hurricane to occur are doubled.
Human activities that cause global warming
These involve:
- Burning of fossil fuels.
- Reduce amounts of rainforests due to excessive deforestation.
Effects of global warming on Environment
Due to global warming, many species are endangered. There is a threat of water shortage, natural fires due to fewer forests, and extreme temperatures. These are some of the effects on the environment because of global warming. There are many others and in simple words, we can say that our whole ecosystem is dying out due to this phenomenon.
Solutions of Global Warming
Some of the suggestions that can be used to reduce global warming are listed below:
- Recycling of waste materials.
- Using sunlight in power sectors.
- Planting more and more trees.
- Use of energy proficient utilizations.
- Save water resources
