Dr. Rafia Pakistani Researcher Received Award for research, she is a true role model for Pakistani women.
Dr. Rafia received this award from the organization Women of Wonders Pakistan for her tremendous achievements during her career & specifically for her research contributions in the field of precision agriculture.
Women of Wonders Pakistan was founded in 2019 to highlight and acknowledge the achievements of successful and inspiring women in Pakistan.
She researched in the field of smart agriculture. She has her own design patent having particle utility, her recent research work of last two years include five research papers having more than 70 citations currently
Dr. Rafia not only just received this award but she also received two grants worth millions of rupees.
She secured a 13 Million rupees local grant & an international grant of GBR 19000 which is currently worth of more than 4 million Pakistani rupees.
Dr. Rafia is currently working as Assistant Professor NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science.
Rafia Mumtaz’s educational background is in computer science. She was awarded scholarships for masters & Ph.D. study both. She went to the University of Surrey for Ph.D. research.
She did BE Software engineering from Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi, then she was awarded the scholarship for master’s during study at NUST. Then, later on, NUST awarded her a scholarship for Ph.D. and sent her to the University of Surrey in the UK. Where she worked with The Astrodynamics Group; a group that is actively researching space mission design and space surveillance and tracking. This group works on reducing space mission costs & exploring the new mission concepts.
After Completing her Ph.D. in 2010 she continued researching in the field of remote sensing & image processing. In 2011, she started post-doctorate research in the areas of remote sensing & image processing. It was 9 months contract that was funded by the European space agency.
After her Ph.D. she worked with NUST from 2010 to 2015 as Assistant Professor.
She also worked as Assistant Professor at King Faisal University in the KSA for the period of two years from 2015 to 2017.
